Another Fun Swap using the Magical Day Stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

Hey Guys!

I was perusing Pinterest the other day and saw this really cute card that had the ‘wind’ from the Christmas Stamp set “Star of Light”  blowing out a candle.  Well, my mind went immediately to the Dragon in the SU! set Magical Day and how cute would it be if he was Lighting a candle!?   This is how my mind works sometimes so I went with the idea!

Here is the card:

As I’ve said before ‘I just love this dragon’!  I love how I colored him this time using Calypso Coral Blends and Cherry Cobbler Blends.  NEVER would I have put these colors together but, again, I saw it done on Pinterest.  It really makes him stand out, doesn’t it?

Here is the inside:

This Stamp set from SU! also has thinlits that cut out not only the characters, but the Banner seen above!  Waves, that I will be using soon, and lots of other goodies!!

For the flags in the front, I used the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I sponged the edges with the color that was on the DSP, and also made a banner out of the Silver Glimmer paper and the FREE Shimmer Ribbon pack from the Sale-A-Bration catalog!  This ribbon is so pretty!!  And it comes in THREE colors and sizes!  I also used Rhinestones and the Scattered Sequins Embossing folder.

The Dimensions are as follows:

Cherry Cobbler 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
Daffodil Delight 5″ x 3 3/4″
Dapper Denim banner 2″ x 5″
Gray Banner 1 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
Silver Banner 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
Calypso Coral Ribbon 3 3/4″
Scrap of White for Stitched Oval
Scrap of Calypso Coral for Scalloped Oval
Whisper White 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside)

I really hope that those who received these swaps love them as much as I do!!

NEW! Sneak Peek from the 2018 Occasions Catalog #2

Are you ready for card #2?  I am using the Petal Palette stamp set that will be coming out in January!  I love how this card came out!

The front uses the Beautiful flowers that I used the Blender Pens to color.  If you look close you can see the dots that I used that remind me of Baby’s Breath flowers, behind the flowers!  I used Smoky Slate stamped off for these.  This was fun to make and I will be doing this in class this month!

Here is the inside:

I love how this stamp has shades in the leaves and I didn’t have to do anything buy ink and stamp!  This will make a great Valentines card for one of your couple friends!  Or you can use it as a Wedding Card and color the flowers to match the colors of the Wedding!

Technique Tuesday Triple Flap Fold Christmas Card

I love when a project comes together! Click here for a video to see the process It took to make this beauty!  The great thing about the video is that I tell you the dimensions and supplies!

I was spending time on YouTube the other day and found this great idea from Dawn, which you can see here.  I loved the idea, but didn’t have her Halloween stamps, even though I LOVE Halloween (need to have new ideas every year for scrapbooking!).  So, I DID have the Christmas stamps from Stampin’ Up! called Father Christmas (I used EVERY stamp!, WooHoo) and Nature Sings.  These Stamp sets are PERFECT for my idea!

When do you use every stamp from a stamp set on ONE project?  I did for this one!  Not sure WHY I am proud of this, but I am.  😉

Here is the project closed:

Partially open:

And now all the way open!:

Isn’t this pretty!?  What I love is other than the front where I colored, there isn’t anything else that needs that much attention!  I DID sponge all the Vanilla pieces but I pretty much sponge everything so this wasn’t a big deal to me.

When I showed this around, I got so many Ooooooh’s and Aaaaaaaah’s!  LOVE when that happens!  Now the question: Who do I send this to?

The next question is what will be my technique for NEXT Tuesday?! Any suggestions? I have a great idea, not sure if I will go with that idea or one YOU give me!

You can click on any of the supplies listed below to be taken to my OnLine Store!

I hope you like this technique, I would love to see a ‘story’ you would like to create using this Fancy Fold!

Until next time!

Ghosting with a Twist Technique Tuesday

If you like this card, look below and see how you can have me make you one!  Go to this video to see how this card was made!

I see the ‘Ghosting’ Technique all over, and I wanted to do this with a Twist!  I made a Beach landscape card, and wanted my chair to have a shadow, or ghosting effect, BUT I wanted to be able to see the water and sand behind the chair.  The thinlit from SU!’s Seasonal Layers cuts the entire chair out, and that would leave a BIG hole in my beach scene!  :-O  Can’t have that!!  So, I die cut out 2 images of the chair, one in Crushed Curry and one in Black.  Plus, I had to die cut out the chair directly from my scene!

Once the card was made, I cut out the chair which left a BIG hole in my card, so I had to remake my background on scraps of Very Vanilla to match the colors that I already had on my card.  This is much easier than you would think…….just sponge the colors you used onto Very Vanilla and stamp the waves for the water, tape them onto the back of your card.  It’s that easy!!  Then you will still have the outline to place a black chair, and it will be flat to the card, it looks just like a shadow!

Here is the view of the entire front!

Isn’t this pretty!!?  If you want to see this card from start to finish, just visit my YouTube Page to see this awesome Ghosting with a Twist Technique!

NEW Technique Tuesday Making a Scene using an Embossing Folder

I love Tuesday’s!  Techniques are my favorite thing about stamping.  I get to use my Stamps in a totally different way!!  The Technique I am using today had me thinking of what I could put BEHIND trees, but still show what I needed it to show.

Here is today’s card:

I made a YouTube video showing this stamping technique.  I love Birch Trees, I also love the Birthday Delivery Stamp set by Stampin’ Up!  I got super excited about being able to use BOTH!  When you go watch the video it will show you exactly how easy this technique is to do!

Stamping directly onto an Embossing Folder isn’t something you think of normally.  Tips:  1. Stamp on the side that has the negative (dipping down) the part you want as your focal in the folder this will be the part that is raised on your card. 2.  Pick images to stamp on that you will see in the lines available that are the flat parts of the folder.  3.  Use colors that will enhance what you are stamping.  4. Use a brayer to lay down a color that will be behind the images (sky), anything you stamp over the brayered color will be at the top of the cardstock.  5. Make sure that you don’t move the folder once you put all the stamping in (I did NOT follow this rule on my video, but I fixed my mistake!)  6.  Remember that it’s ONLY PAPER, and play with it!

I won’t be able to show you here how to do this technique, it would be too confusing, so please go check out my video and see how fun and easy it is.  You will notice that you will look at stamps in a totally new way!

As always, I will have the supplies listed below, just click on any image to be taken to my OnLine Store!

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time!

High Tide meets Pattern Party Decorative Mask

Last time I posted I gave a little teaser and told you that I made a card  using the High Tide stamp set with the Pattern Party Decorative Mask……..Here is the card I made!

When I saw the Medallion in the mask, I thought immediately that it could be a ‘sun’…….is that weird that my mind went there?  I hope not!!  I sponged it with Crushed Curry and then went over it with Rose Red, to give it that HOT look.  🙂  High Tide is one of my favorite Stamp sets STILL!  I am not sure if or WHEN it will stop being my favorite, I guess time will tell on what Stampin’ Up! brings out next. This company always pleasantly surprises me!

For the sky and water I used Soft Sky as the base, the waves are done in Pool Party.  The lighthouse is in Dapper Denim, with the first image stamped off…….this is the image that I get so tickled with when I am done stamping…….it is just so intricate and I can’t get over that I stamped it!  Silly, I know!  I’m the one who sits in her Stamp Room by MYSELF and says how great something looks……my kids used to shake their heads and comment that I’m crazy!  Bwaahahahaha  I just get so tickled that I can make beautiful things!  Never in my life was I even a LITTLE bit creative, so when I discovered SU!, I was astonished that I could do things that would make others (including me!) think it was pretty!  My sister always had the creative gene, and after 17 years I am still tickled.  AND I get paid to do it!  What’s better than that!?

The sentiment (Love) is from Lovely Friends, BUT the outside ring is from Label Me Pretty!  I used a marker to color the outside ring then stamped the LOVE from Lovely Label.  I was so happy when I saw that it fit perfectly inside that ring.

Here are the dimensions for this card:

*****
Dapper Denim: 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ scored t 4 1/4″
Gold Foil: 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
Whisper White: 5″ x 3 3/4″
*****

Christmas in July!!

Here is the start of my Christmas cards that I will be making this year!  If you receive cards from me and want to be surprised, don’t go any further!!  LOL

I am doing a class where we will make 3 each of FIVE Christmas cards, and if you prepay you get to make an extra Bonus card!  I’m hoping to get a headstart on my Christmas cards this year, how about you?!

I am going to show you today ONE of my 6 cards so far…….make sure you check back in so you can see the others!

Here is the first one:

I love cards that are weathered and antiquey……..I know that is NOT a word, but that’s the only one that came to mind!  LOL

I stamped the Music Notes on the Vanilla piece with Sahara Sand, but stamped off first so it wasn’t so dark.  I then tore the cardstock in carefully planned areas, and made it look old.  LOVE doing this, don’t you?  This card was really simple except that the ageing did tak a little time, but not as much as you would think.  I stamped the Reindeer? using Early Espresso ink, didn’t color him in at all, and I think he looks great!  I wanted some of my cards to be a little simpler since I will be making these in bulk.  I cut him out using the Stitched Framelits and then cut a mat using the Circle framelits using the scallop, cutting this out with Cherry Cobbler.  I used my Early Espresso marker to make the stitched edge look stitched!

For the Banner I used the Bunch of Banners thinlits.  Did you know that this banner thinlit cuts out BOTH the sentiment AND the border?  I hadn’t used this one yet, and was surprised that it did that, so I was able to frame the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler!

I added Linen Thread behind the Reindeer, popped up the sentiment with Dimensionals and I was done!   Easy Peasy!

Here is what the inside looks like:

Isn’t it pretty?

Below is a pictorial list of what I used to make this card, click on any picture and you will be taken to my OnLine Store!  If you purchase anything from me online I will send you a handmade card!

Want some Blog Candy?  I have taken a few days off since giving away my last one, so I guess it’s time!!

I LOVE embossing folders and I also love Bakers Twine!  This Bakers Twine is Gray, my FAVORITE color!  Is Gray a color?

You can get this mailed directly to you if you win the drawing that I will be having in a few weeks on July 29th.  How can you win this?  Easy!  Just leave me comments here on my blog, OR on any of my Social Media places……..Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.  ALL comments count, no matter which posts you comment on!  You can spend a good amount of time visiting my older posts and commenting and they count!!  Not only will you be getting good ideas for you projects, but you will be put in my drawing each and every time you comment!  Pretty easy wouldn’t you say?
