Seamless Blending of colors that draw your eye

Hey Guys!

Oh my Gosh you guys I LOVE how this card came out! Especially since I sent them out to my direct Team members, they loved them and wanted me to make a video so they could learn how to make it! Namely, how to Seamlessly blend the colors to draw your eye to the center. Subsequently you can find the video here. As you will see in the video it’s pretty simple if you follow one rule: Start OFF your paper first! It also helps if you rub either your sponge or brush, a little after inking up on a scratch paper before touching your project. First off, take a look at my card, can you see that I have 2 different ink colors PLUS the color of the cardstock?

See how you can blend colors to create a scene that draws your eye to the subject, seamlessly!?

To start with I began with a piece of Seaside Spray cardstock, I then sponged with a make-up brush Pacific Point around the edges leaving the middle un-inked. Second, I came in on top of the Pacific Point and went over the cardstock with Night of Navy, not quite going as far as I did with the Pacific Point. Thirdly, I stamped the tree from Life Is Beautiful in the center using Soft Suede ink. Lastly I sponged the sides with Night of Navy to make it really dark on the edges and fade to the light color in the middle. Can you see how seamless the blending is and how it really draws your eye in towards the tree in the center? Now, I DID emboss the snowflakes before I sponged the edges but it doesn’t matter if you do the sponging first.

As always here are the specifics for my card:

  • Stamps: Life is Beautiful
  • Inks: Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Soft Suede, Versamark
  • Paper: Night of Navy 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ (scored @ 4 1/4″), Whisper White 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ (x2) & 2″ x 3 3/4″, Seaside Spray 5″ x 3 3/8″
  • Misc: Elegant Faceted Gems, Paper Trimmer, Take your Pick tool, stamping sponges & make-up brushes

For the most part EVERYTHING listed above, excluding the make-up brushes, can be found on my OnLine Store. As a result of you ordering $35 or more from my Store you will receive from me SIXTEEN project designs with step by step instructions WITH pictures, in a pdf! Finally, you can click on any of the supplies in picture form below to be taken to my site so you can Shop with me!

Incidentally, I have another sponged scene that I did in the past, but for that one I only used sponges, you can see it here. Therefore, sponging doesn’t HAVE to be done using the make-up brushes, it makes it easier, but sponging can get the same result.

Lastly, I hope you know how much you mean to me! Just the fact that you come here and read what I wrote and watch my video means a lot to me. In brief, please come back again, and leave comments even if it’s to say you enjoyed my post.

I made my own Fall Ink Pad, you can too!

Hey Guys!

Today I am going to show you how I made my own Fall ink pad so that leaves on my tree look natural, when I am done you’ll be able to also!! Of course, I made a video you can go here if you would like to SEE how I made it! Naturally, I tend to look at pictures and if I have questions a video helps me out a lot. As an example, here is a picture of my card:

See how the leaves are THREE different colors! That’s my own Fall ink pad!
My own Fall ink pad was used for the inside too!

So, how did I make my fall ink pad? To begin with I had a dirty, yucky Versamark pad that I never used and thought of chucking it in the trash……but no, I could make my own Fall ink pad so my tree will look gorgeous AND match the colors I was using for this card!

My own Fall ink pad made from an OLD Versamark pad!

Since I wanted the colors to match my card I used Bumble Bee, Cherry Cobbler and for the green I went with Just Jade. Already I knew that I wanted to use the Holiday Rhinestones and those used Cherry Cobbler for the red, and a yellow that looked a lot like Bumble Bee but the green was Shaded Spruce so I went with a lighter shade of color and used Just Jade instead. It’s funny how I go about figuring out which colors I use in my crafting, this time it was all about the Rhinestones……gotta have that BLING!

For a different fall project that I made a few years ago, click here!

As always here are the specifics for this card:
Stamps:
Life is Beautiful
Inks:
Bumble Bee
Cinnamon Cider
Cherry Cobbler re-inker
Just Jade re-inker
Bumble Bee re-inker
OLD Versamark pad (you can use new!)
Paper:
Bumble Bee 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ (scored at 4 1/4″), 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
Cinnamon Cider 5 1/4″ x 4″ (x2)
Very Vanilla 5″ x 3 3/4″ (x2), scrap for sentiment
Misc:
Holiday Rhinestones
Stamping Sponges
Dimensionals
Tasteful Labels Dies
Bumble Bee Gingham ribbon

As you know, all the supplies will be listed below in picture form. Consequently if you click on any of them you will be taken to my OnLine Store, for every purchase at or above $35 you will get from me 16 projects in a pdf with pictures and step by step instructions!

Sneak Peek for projects you will get in your pdf!

To summarize, I am a ‘give the facts and be done’ kind of girl, so I will let you go for now, check back in next week for a new card/video! If you want to know when I post, subscribe and you can also receive a Newsletter from me by subscribing to that too! Thanks for stopping by and supporting me!

Who’s that Doggy in the Window!

Hey Guys,

To begin with, I saw a card on Pinterest that had this fold, which is called a Bay Window. But of course, I had to change it up, so I made one with dogs from Playful Pets that I call “Who’s the doggy in the window”!? By the way, the dog that looks like a Yorkie looks like my puppy and he is always looking out the window waiting for us to come home! By the way, I did a video showing how to make this card, you can catch it here. If you love animals, I have another card using this same set but with cats, you can see it here!

First off, this card is not the regular size that I make. But, it has too much in it to make it smaller. Because of this, I decided to keep it big, so the size is 5 3/4″ x 8 1/4″. Once you see it, you’ll agree with me that the size NEEDS to be big! 🙂

Technique called Bay Window: Who’s that Doggy in the window!?
Aren’t those the cutest doggies in the window!?

Of course, I had to find a sentiment that went with my best friend loving me, so I am using the Beauty Abounds stamp set from Stampin’ Up! Subsequently it says “A friend is someone who chooses you….out of a whole world of people” And who doesn’t love you more than a dog, so it’s perfect for a friend card!

As always, here are the specifics for this card:

Stamps:
Beauty Abounds

Inks:
Memento Black

Paper:
Real Red 5 3/4″ x 81/4″ (x2) ONE is scored at 1/2″, 3 1/2″ turn card and score again at 1/2″ and 3 1/2″ , 2 1/2″ sq (x 4)
Playful Pets Designer Series Paper (DSP) 2 7/8″ x 5 5/8″ (x2), 1 3/16″ x 5 5/8″, 4 1/8″ x 5 5/8″, 3 3/8″ x 5 5/8″
Black 3 1/8″ x 4 3/8″ , 1 1/8″ x 2 1/2″
Whisper White 2 1/4″ x 1 1/4″ (x2)

Misc:
Stitched Rectangle Dies
Layering Squares Dies
Playful Pets Trinkets
Dimensionals
Window Sheets 2 1/8″ sq. (x2)

How to copy a card and make it your own.

Hey Guys!,

First off, I got this idea from the Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ Up! I like to get ideas and then change them up to make them my own design. Next, we will take a walk through my thought process! As usual, here is a video showing you how to make this card. Finally, this card on page 43 is the card I wanted to make my own:

The card on the right is the one I am going to make into my own design!

Generally, when looking for a project to do, I first look in Pinterest, but this time I looked at the SU! catalog! Consequently it ended up being an awesome place to get an idea! Furthermore, I wanted to use the In The Pines Bundle and this would work with an idea I had in my head. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the circle that is on the card above. However, I did have the die from the Painted Labels that let me cut out a circle design that would take it’s place! Also, I wanted to use the trees singularly from the stamp set but die cut to have more detail. Likewise, instead of the ribbon that comes out the side of the circle I used gold foil cut into two strips. By the way, I DID use the acorns for my card, here is what I made:

I replaced some things to make this design my own creation!

Usually, I like to have layers on my cards and this time is no exception! Likewise, I love to sponge the edges of my cards and I did that with Crumb Cake and then Early Espresso to add a dark edge that makes the card pop! As a rule, I like to have my insides go with the front using the same layers, this (to me) seems to make the card look more professional.

Notice how the inside mirrors the front?

Finally, here are the details for this card:

Stamps:
In the Pines Bundle
For Unto Us
Inks:
Crumb Cake
Early Espresso
Old Olive
Paper:
Crumb Cake 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", 5" x 3 3/4" (x2)
Old Olive 5 1/4" x 4" (x2), scraps for trees
Gold Foil
Misc:
Wonder of The Season OR Forever Greenery combo
Jingle Bells OR Acorn Trinkets
Glue Dots
MultiPurpose Liquid Glue
Mini Dimensionals
Painted Labels Dies
Banners Pick a Punch

As always, below will be the same supplies listed in picture form, click on any of them to be taken to my On Line Store! Subsequently, any purchase over $35 you will get from me a PDF with 16 project ideas that include pictures and step by step instructions! So then, this is a thank you from me!

Before I go, I wanted to tell you that I have another card that you can see here that I took from the catalog and made it my own (see page 38). As you can see I like to get ideas and then change them up to make them my own design.

In Conclusion, thank you so much for coming to visit me! Together, we can make things we see into our creations!

Lightning Bugs that light up!

Hey Guys,

Today I am sharing with you an Alternative to July’s Paper Pumpkin, my Lightning Bugs that light up! Of course, I have a video if you would like to see it here, otherwise follow along with my pictures! So, if you would like to see another light up card I’ve done click here!

Lightning Bugs that light up for real!

As a result of how I felt when I was a kid, I LOVE seeing Lightning Bugs! We spent the first 8 years of my life in IL and I remember how much I loved looking at them! Usually, My sister would take the lights off the bugs and make a ring, but I couldn’t do that! However, I knew it killed them. Now, she has guilt over that! Therefore when to CA the only ones I saw were in Disneyland at the Pirates of the Caribbean! To this day, that is my FAVORITE part of that ride!

So, when Stampin’ Up! came out with the July Paper Pumpkin I was so happy! By the way, I knew I had to make a light up card and have the Lightning Bugs REALLY light up! Are you ready?! Just in case, I have a lot of pictures showing how I did it. Therefore, if you want to skip the pictures, you can watch my video and see it light up for yourself! As you can see, In the first picture I show that you cut out the center of the gold and then lay it behind your card stock from the kit (which I cut down). Generally, the rest is self explanatory, I hope!!

Generally, I hope this all makes sense, remember the video is there if you need it! As you can see, this was a really fun technique, I hope you liked it!

As always here are the specifics for this card:

Stamps:
July Paper Pumpkin

Inks:
Blackberry Bliss

Cardstock:
Blackberry Bliss 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
Gold Foil 5 1/4″ x 4″
Card cut up from kit front is 5″ x 3 3/4″, inside is 5 1/4″ x 4″

Misc:
Chibitronics lights
Batteries
Copper Foil Tape
Rhinestones
Foam Adhesive Tape
Hole punch

As I’ve mentioned before, the supply list will be seen below (except for the lights….) you can click on any of them and be taken to my OnLine Store. Therefore, If you purchase $35 or more from me you will be sent a pdf with 16 projects with step by step instructions and pictures.

In conclusion, Thank you for stopping by! By the way, I hope you come back next week to see what I make next!
